An ultra-fine flat weave has very little loose fibre and a lot of contact with the surface, which is exactly backwards from a drying towel and exactly right for glass. No lint, no fibres to chase off the windscreen afterwards.
At 260GSM this is deliberately one of the lightest cloths we make. On glass you want feel and precision rather than bulk, especially working into corners, around mirrors and across an infotainment screen.
Works either way. Damp with Optical for the clean, dry for the final buff. Most people end up keeping two of these and doing both passes with the same cloth type.
Blue with green overlocked edging, so a glass cloth never gets confused for a cloth that's had wax or dressing on it. That matters more on glass than anywhere else, because contamination shows up instantly as smear.
Why Does Glass Need Its Own Cloth?
Glass is the least forgiving surface on a car, and it is the one people most often try to clean with whatever cloth is nearest. The reason it goes wrong is that glass shows everything. Paint hides a small amount of residue under gloss; glass puts it directly between your eye and the road, and then low sun turns it into glare.
Two things cause that. The first is lint. A plush cloth has a deep pile with a lot of loose fibre standing off it, which is what makes it good at holding liquid and bad at glass — the fibres shed onto the surface and you spend longer picking them off than you did cleaning. A flat, ultra-fine weave has very little to shed. The second is residue transfer: any cloth that has touched wax, sealant, dressing or polish carries a film that glass will smear the moment it gets damp, which is why a dedicated glass cloth that never does anything else is worth more than an expensive cloth that does everything.
A flat weave also gives you contact and control. Because there is almost no pile between your hand and the glass, you feel exactly how much pressure you are applying and you can work an edge or a corner properly. That is the trade-off this cloth makes: it holds less liquid than a waffle or a plush cloth, and in exchange it finishes cleaner than either.

How To Use It
Wash it before first use, and only ever use it on glass. A glass cloth that has done one wax job is finished as a glass cloth.
Eight faces. On glass you will get through them faster than on paint, because each one picks up film rather than dirt.
Mist Optical onto the cloth rather than the window. Spraying the glass directly means overspray onto dash, trim and door cards, and it runs down into the seal.
Horizontal passes on the outside, vertical on the inside. If a streak shows up later you know instantly which side of the glass it's on.
Turn to a dry, unused face and go over the whole pane again with no product. This is the step people skip, and it is the one that actually removes the last of the film.
