Why Use Wheel Woolies?
Wheel barrels are the part most people skip. They are awkward to reach, they hold the majority of the brake dust, and a wheel can look clean from the front while the back of the spokes is still filthy.
Wheel Woolies are built for that job. The fibres are dense polypropylene on a metal-free core, so there is nothing hard behind the bristles to catch a wheel face as the brush wears. What makes Wheel Woolies different from other wheel brushes?
There is no metal in the part of the brush that touches your wheel. Traditional twisted-wire brushes rely on a metal core, and as the bristles wear down that core sits closer to the wheel face. Wheel Woolies use a metal-free construction instead, so that risk is not there.
Are Wheel Woolies safe on painted and polished wheels?
Yes. The polypropylene fibres are soft and non-abrasive, which makes them suitable for painted, polished, powder-coated and diamond-cut finishes. As with any brush, rinse it out between wheels so trapped grit is not carried from one to the next.
Which Wheel Woolies size should I choose?
The 12 inch Medium suits the widest range of wheels and is the sensible first buy. Choose the 18 inch Large for deep barrels and larger SUV wheels, the 12 inch Small for tight spoke gaps, and the Caliper and Spoke brush for narrow areas around calipers. Do I still need a wheel cleaner?
Yes. A brush agitates contamination that a cleaner has already loosened. Used together with a dedicated alloy wheel cleaner you will get a more thorough clean than either can manage alone.
How do I clean and store them?
Rinse thoroughly after every use to flush out brake dust and grit, then let the brush dry with the fibres facing down so water does not sit in the handle. The fibres are chemical-resistant, so normal wheel cleaners will not degrade them.
Clean barrels change how the whole wheel looks
Work the brush through the barrel first, then the spokes and wheel nuts, then the face last, so you are not dragging loosened contamination back across the part people actually see. Rinse between wheels and the whole set stays safe to use.
